Cuba's Schools Open With No Fuel, Uniforms, 27% Teacher Shortage

As Cuba's new school year begins, schools face fuel shortages, daily blackouts exceeding 20 hours, and school uniforms meeting only 12% of demand. Teaching positions are only 73% filled, prompting the government to relocate 3,000 teachers from eastern provinces to Havana. Low salaries and emigration drive the shortage. Meanwhile, Vietnam lacks 104,516 tenured teachers nationwide and still needs approximately 43,267 additional payrolls for the new academic year. Education systems globally face similar challenges.
