User Guide
A short walkthrough of Import data, Assess writing, Assess exercise, Student files and History. Follow the steps, then open the feature to try it yourself.
Import Data
Works for all subjects. Choose Smart import (AI structures the mark; costs credits) or Spreadsheet direct import (no AI, no credits). Writing smart imports can apply shared calibration bias; exercise scores stay as-is. AI name may be left blank for human-marked work (shown as “None”).

- 1
Open Import data. Choose Calibrate bias, or Import and adjust.
- 2
Under Import and adjust, pick Smart import or Spreadsheet direct import. For Smart import, also choose year level, subject, and Writing vs Exercise.
- 3
Smart import: upload files, paste text, or CSV/Excel. AI name may be blank (= None). Writing with a known AI applies bias; Exercise keeps scores as-is. Each item uses AI once and costs one credit.
- 4
Spreadsheet direct import: fill AI name (optional), Student code, Subject, Work type, Assignment title, Result text, Result date. Rows are saved as-is to student files and History—no AI call and no credit cost.
- 5
Review results in History and student files. Shared calibrations (for Smart writing imports) are stored per AI name and subject for every user.
Assess Writing
For Chinese and English writing only. Upload student writing; Aicmark marks language ability and compares with the same year group. A single file can also contain multiple students’ work—the system can split it and mark each submission.
86%
- 1
Open Assess writing. Enter the assignment title, choose the student year level, and set the subject to Chinese or English.
- 2
Premium users can pick a student file so the score is saved to that student’s history. Free users can still assess without selecting a student. You can upload multiple student files at once—assign each file to a student, and the system analyses them one by one.
- 3
Upload PDF, image or Word files, then start the analysis. You will see progress while the system scans, extracts text and marks. For batch uploads, a counter shows how many files are done (e.g. Completed: 5/10).
- 4
When finished, read the scores, comments, regional same-year comparison and global same-year comparison. Batch uploads also produce a class overview report summarising overall performance. You can open the student file or find records later under History.
- 5
If one file contains multiple students’ work (e.g. a scanned class set), check “This file contains work from multiple students” when uploading—do not select a student yet. The system will split the file with AI, show the detected submission count (you can change it), let you confirm page ranges (cover pages are excluded by default), assign each student, then mark each submission separately. Detection uses one credit; each split submission marked afterwards also uses one credit.
Assess Exercise
For exercises and tests across subjects. Upload question/answer files first, then student answers. Chinese and English share the same pools as Assess writing. A single answer file can also contain multiple students’ work—the system can split it and mark each submission.

- 1
Open Assess exercise. Choose year level, then pick the subject (primary and secondary only).
- 2
Upload PDF, image or Word files containing the questions and model answers. Wait while Aicmark analyses them.
- 3
Upload student answer files—multiple files at once if needed. Assign each file to a student (the same student can appear on more than one file). Premium users can link student files.
- 4
Review each mark, comments, regional and global same-year comparisons for the subject. When two or more answers are assessed together, Aicmark also generates a class overview of overall performance. Records are stored under the chosen subject and appear in History.

Student Files
Premium feature. Search students by code or name, open a file to see scores and trends, download past assessment data as CSV/Excel, and generate a performance report (Overall or a single subject) with history, progress curve and AI analysis.
- 1
Open Student files. Use the search box to find a student by code or name; matching cards appear below. You can also add a new student file here.
- 2
Open a student to see scores, trends and past assessments. Subject tabs (Overall plus assessed subjects only) filter the view—subjects with no records are hidden. In Past assessments, use Download CSV or Download Excel to export that subject’s (or Overall) assessment data.
- 3
In Performance report on that student’s page, choose Overall or a subject that already has writing, exercise or align-mark data, then generate the report. Generating the AI analysis uses one credit.
- 4
Read the history, progress curve and AI analysis. You can print or download the HTML report from the same page.
History
All assessments you uploaded appear here. Open any item for the full report, or delete a record you no longer need.
- 1
Open History to see your assessments, newest first.
- 2
Tap a row to open the full analysis, scores and peer comments. Class overview reports appear alongside individual student records.
- 3
Use Delete record if you uploaded it by mistake. Deleted items are removed from the database and will not affect future AI analysis. Admins can delete any record.
Account Region
After sign-in, open Settings → Account to set your country or region. The system suggests a default from your connection; you can search and change it anytime. This affects regional same-year comparison.

Student Name Privacy
School admins can enable “hide student names” for a school. Teachers and admins then see student codes only (not names) when selecting students or viewing files. Assessment still works; global and regional comparisons are unchanged.
