PISA Assesses Learning in the Digital World for the First Time

For the first time, PISA 2025 included “Learning in the Digital World” as an official assessment. It examined not simply whether students could use computers, but whether they could interpret information, select tools, break down complex problems, and develop solutions in digital environments. This shift shows that assessment is moving from memorized knowledge toward digital reasoning and application. As artificial intelligence and automation become more common, students must learn to verify information, understand model limitations, and use digital tools to support thinking rather than simply copy answers.
