Filipino Students Achieve Their Best PISA Results Yet

Filipino students achieved their highest-ever PISA results in reading, mathematics, and science. Compared with 2022, reading improved by 20 points, mathematics by 16 points, and science by 17 points. The share of students reaching PISA Level 2 baseline proficiency also increased across all three subjects. Although the Philippines remains below the OECD average, the improvement suggests that policies focused on foundational literacy, mathematics, and science may be beginning to work. Education reform should measure not only rankings but also sustained progress.
